SUMMARY:CCC Camps Come to Life
DESCRIPTION:President Franklin Roosevelt said\, "Our greatest task is to put people to work. This is no unsolveable problem if we face it wisely and courageously." So\, in 1933\, over two hundred young men from the Detroit area pitched tents in the Hiawatha National Forest. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)\, which was President Franklin Roosevelt's personal project and passion\, will celebrate it's 80th anniversary this March. To mark the occasion\, we will be hosting Bill Jamerson\, a CCC historian. Bill's hour long program will include songs and stories about the CCC and how it took boys and turned them into men through teaching them self reliance\, discipline and self-respect.
